Ethical Leadership
Being an ethical leader means doing the right thing to achieve the common good. Being an ethical leader is extremely important because a leader is often responsible for the needs, interests, and affairs. As pointed by Northouse (2018), six factors play a role in the ethics of a leader. First, the character of the leader determines whether they are ethical or not. Second, being an ethical leader, in this case, means demonstrating honorable values like trustworthiness, respect, caring, fairness, and responsibility. These values are demonstrated by Shantanu Narayen, the CEO of Adobe, whom I covered in my final paper. Third, an ethical leader should also engage in actions that show respect, serve others, and are just. Finally, an ethical leader pursues worthy and just goals, taking into account the interest of others and the greater good (Northouse, 2018).
