In July 1959, Finland and Ethiopia established a strategic relationship and promised to initiate several development projects together. Today, Ethiopia is represented in Finland via its embassy in Sweden while Finland’s embassy is established in Addis Ababa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for tracking the relationship of Finland and Ethiopia on a regular basis (Demeke, Guta, & Ferede, 2006).
Despite all the projects they launched together and their friendship, the political stability seems to be absent in Ethiopia. The year 2015 placed this state on media outlets including Washington Post, BBC, The New York Times, Financial Times and others because of the escalating and widespread anti-government protests. The protestors claimed that they were not being given their rights and that the rate of corruption had tremendously increased in this country. Finland, however, is one of the most peaceful countries in the world and has its unique political environment (Dahlman, & Pekka, 2008).
On the Fragile States Index, Ethiopia is ranked 170th (out of 178) and Finland is ranked 1st. This index mainly accesses the level stability and pressure faced by different nations in last few years. Finland is best known for its great economic performance, easy access to public health care services and human rights, and all these things seem to be absent...
