Course Reflection: Servant Leadership
Servant leadership refers to the situation, where an individual becomes a servant to the people before he or she is a leader (Sendjaya & Sarros, 2002). It can only become applicable if the leaders in the society would focus on providing opportunities to the people and encouraging the virtues of love and care amongst the people. I agree and believe in the concept of servant leadership since the world requires a softer form of leadership, where the leader can humble himself or herself to the level of the ordinary citizens and only then will he or she understand their problems and figure out exactly how to provide solutions. I also believe that this concept should be applicable in this dynamic world and could be the solution to the chaos and upheavals experienced in many countries (Russell & Stone, 2006).
From a personal perspective, I would be comfortable executing servant leadership. It would allow me to increase the loyalty from the followers since it enables me to put the needs of the people before bureaucracy. Secondly, by involving the people, it becomes easier to come ...
