Essay Instructions:

The goal of Portfolio Project Option 1 is to develop a project plan that could be used by a project manager to successfully execute a project.
In this option, you will develop, compile, and write important project documents for a service type project in a company or non-profit organization that you have selected. The company or organization can be one that you work for, one with which you are familiar, or one you find through research. The project should be a real project, not yet started, and for delivery of a service. Service projects may include IT software development, healthcare delivery, or fundraising, among many others. You should select a project that is complex enough to allow you to demonstrate an understanding of the learning objectives for this course, and that allows you to deliver on all the project management components required in this Portfolio Project.
By the end of this week you will turn in your final course paper. The elements included are the following:
*Project Initiation Section:
Introduction of the project
Project scope.
*Project Planning Section:
Staffing management plan (identify the stakeholders and project team)
Work breakdown structure (WBS)
Project schedule (network diagram with, duration, and critical path).
*Risk Management, Project Execution, and Control Section:
Risk management plan and risk register
Communication management plan
Change management plan
Project budget
Resource constraints
Skills that you and the team must acquire for a successful project.
*Requirements:
Your well-written Portfolio Project should be clear, engaging, original, and focused with ideas and content that are richly developed with details and examples. The project should be presented coherently to move the reader through the details of the project plan.
Your submission must meet the following requirements:
Be 8-10 pages in length, not including the required cover page, references page(s), and appendices. While your specific plans, WBS, and network diagram may be included in your text portion, your clarification of calculations and other supporting documents should appear in appendices.
Format your entire paper according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing & APA (Links to an external site.).
Cite a minimum of five sources--four of which should be current academic, peer-reviewed scholarly sources--to support your responses, demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course, and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly this course material. The CSU-Global library is a great place to find these resources.
Note: Current research in this class means the most recent five-year period. Although research older than five years may be used, it will not count toward the assignment requirement. Additionally, in the lecture material for Module 1, you were reminded of what constitutes academic, peer-reviewed scholarly sources, and how to find them in the CSU Global Library.

The section presents the introduction and scope of a service project.
1.1. Introduction of Service Project
As a project management consultant, a service project of development of a new mobile application is recommended for the McDonald’s restaurants in Thailand. The new mobile application is equipped with technological advancements and algorithms, and it helps the customers to place the food orders in a more effective manner. The new mobile application improves the food delivery service and also help to collect the customer’s data for the purpose of data analytics (Majed, 2017). The collected customer’s information helps to identify significant insights about purchase behavior (Khade, 2016). The insights are used to introduce improvements in a mobile application that are necessary for the development of personalized experience for the customers.
The improved customer experience through mobile application helps to sustain competitive advantage in the highly competitive food and beverages industry of Thailand. Innovation in food and beverages department is important for organizations to achieve competitive differentiation, but innovative products and services can also be easily copied by other competitors in the market (Ivanovic, Perman & Grlj, 2015). Hence, McDonald’s needs to invest in innovative technological advancements on a continuous basis to achieve a competitive advantage in 7.36 billion baht worth burger market of Thailand (BangkokPost, 2019). Currently, McDonald’s is a market leader in Thailand with a 75% market share in burgers segment (BangkokPost, 2019). McDonald’s and other major competitors have experienced a reduction in returns in the US because of the rise in food delivery options. Starbucks, one of McDonald’s biggest competitors has experienced a decrease in stock prices by 11.3% and it is a lot high as compared to McDonald’s stock prices reduction of 5.49% in the third quarter of 2018, and it is evident from the figure mentioned below (Duberstein, 2018).

McDonald’s Corporation revenues have decreased on a continuous basis from $24.622 billion in 2016 to $22.82 billion in 2017 and then further to $21.025 billion in 2018 (Macrotrends, 2019). Therefore, the development of new mobile application for Thailand’s operations helps to increase differentiation of services and further contribute to increased revenues in future. The food and beverages industry in Thailand is expected to grow at CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 16.8% from 2019 to 2023 (Statista, 2019). Hence, a mobile application with more effective algorithms helps to collect information for the development of strategies that are necessary to utilize the opportunities available in the food and beverages industry of Thailand.
