The matrix organization structure is one that embraces both the old hierarchical approaches and the newer flat organizational structure approaches. It is an in-between structure that bring to the table both functional and divisional structures (Chimoriya, 2017). As such, it is a more balanced approach towards managing the organizational structure in question.
There are quite a number of benefits that are associated with the structure, one of the them being the efficiency with which information is exchanged. Departments tend to work closely and thus share information much more effectively relative to smoother communication channels.
