One of the controversial debates is whether leaders are made or born. Leadership refers to the social influence that motivates a group of people to achieve set objectives. For instance, some of the effective leaders in the technology industry, such as Tim Cook, has seen Apple Inc. come up with new and high-quality products. As such, proper leadership entails motivating employees so that they can work toward a specific goal. Good leaders do not command workers to do things, but instead, they set examples to be followed by others and act as role models. Leadership is all about getting things done in the right way by influencing people positively.
In effective leadership, character plays a significant role. In particular, it affects all aspects of human lives, namely decisions, actions, goals, relationships, attitudes, and words. People judge others based on their character. A good character enables a person to be trusted by others. Besides, no one can follow a person without trusting him or her. Good leaders give examples to be followed, and they are not afraid to admit when they make mistakes. With such trustworthy individuals, workers do not hesitate to report when a problem occurs since they understand how such issues might affect the production process adversely. As such, effective leaders motivate employees to engage in activities that are beneficial to them.
One of the most significant leadership theories is transformational leadership. In particular, a transformative leader works in close collaboration with his or her employees to identify the needed change, create an inspirational guide, and execute tasks that facilitate the fulfillment of the desired objectives (Northouse, 2016). Such a person connects with others well and motivates them to do what is best for the organization. A transformative leader is not afraid of getting his or her hands dirty, but he or she works together with others to ensure that things are done correctly. Moreover, the individual raises the morality and motivation of workers through common goals, values, and beliefs (Khan, Nawaz, Khan, & Khan, 2016). As such, employees always perform better since they understand what they are expected to do and have full support from their leader. Transformational theory i...
