The New Networking
Life has changed, business has changed, inevitably networking also has changed. During this pandemic, we have been forced to re-invent ourselves, especially when it comes to networking and looking for jobs. Thankfully, there are tools that facilitate how we can network virtually.
There is LinkedIn, YouTube, even Twitter.
For this assignment, you must find three (3) professionals on the platform mentioned above, and follow the following steps:
• Select three professionals with whom you will like to connect. Examples: Anthony Miyazaki (perhaps the hiring manager of the dream company you would like to work for, or someone you will be connected with)
• First, you will have to select the professionals and the platform you would like to use to connect with them.
• In the case of LinkedIn, you will have to connect with the person and comment in one of the posts or articles published by the person.
• For YouTube, you will have to comment on a video and subscribe to the channel.
• If you want to connect with the professional on Twitter, you will follow the person and leave a comment in one tweet.
Once you have selected the professionals, you have to connect, subscribe, and follow. Then you will proceed to leave a comment on a post, tweet, or video. Make sure you establish a connection with the professional and start expanding your network. Keep in mind, this person can help open doors, so when connecting with the person, be professional.
Assignment Instructions
1. Cover Page: Name, Panther ID, Major, Minor, Certificate(s), Assignment Title
2. Introduction: Discuss the purpose of Networking.
3. For each of the three professionals, complete the following:
a. Name of the professional
b. Link to the profile of each person selected
c. Screenshot of the comments
4. Objectives: Explain why you selected this person to network. What are your goals?
5. Reflection: How will this exercise benefit your personal and professional brand? Ho will this connection help you improve your networking skills?Was this uncomfortable? Why?
6. Synthesis and Summary: Discuss what you learned from this exercise. What is the importance of networking? Synthesize your learning from the various parts of the assignment, what you learned from the module and create a summary that you can review in the future to be prepared when it comes time to attend the event. By the due date shown on Canvas, submit the final assignment as a Word or PDF file (PDF is strongly preferred) with Times New Roman 12-point font, single-spaced (with spacing between sections and/or paragraphs as desired), appropriate headings and subheadings, and page numbering.
