How Might Women and Men Network differently?
The network is the social interaction that fosters communication, trade, relationships, or friendship. Social networks are significant for both men and women to survive professionally and personally in this world (Szell & Thurner, 2013). Both genders have different perspectives, brains, and attitudes, so the network differs. The network formed by men is basically to fulfill their short-term needs, but the women are oriented towards developing a long-term relationship with their networks.
Men are more focused and have a clear direction in their lives as they strongly recognize their goals. They have extensive networks which benefit them through their career development. Their network is more like an alliance that offers them comfort to ask for favors. Men can often maintain their network through limited contact. In contrast, Women focus on the small yet deep and trustworthy network compared to men. They seek personal and professional support from their network (Mortimer, 2022). They are hesitant to ask for favors from their interaction, but they are more willing to help others. It is common for them to avoid networking with men or attending events because of their family commitments and social pressure. A research study by Kellogg School of Management concluded that women networking like men do not bring any benefit to them. It is because women need a closer circle to feel more connected (Castrillon, 2022). They need a sense of security while expressing their emotions and feelings, making them more likely to network with the same gender where they can ensure understanding and sympathy. Women are more considerate towards other women due to the emotional bond. It is often seen that women connect well with those undergoing the same experiences for a stronger bond.
Women tend to have a more selfless approach to building networks than men. They connect on multiple levels to their networking groups, including their children, family, business, or social gatherings. They are considered natural networkers due to the...
