Marketing is a Crucial Component of a Business

Essay Instructions:

Pick a product that you are interested in and prepare a report on the Marketing Mix actually used for that product. You are required to choose a product by brand name. You may choose a well-known name like Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and Coke or a lesser-known brand such as Louisville Slugger, Peavey, or Furby. It can be a familiar product such as a soft drink, automobile, backpack, a piece of sports equipment or a computer; or one that is of special interest to you that is less familiar to most of us such as deer stands, paint ball equipment, or a musical group. The choice is yours but my one criterion is just to ensure that there is enough marketing information readily available on the good or service.  Discuss this product in a single report describing Product, Place, Promotion, and Price.  Divide the report into four sections and devote at least one page to each section.

1.    Product

This section is the heart of the marketing mix and should describe the product offering and product strategy. The product includes not only the physical unit but also its product depth and breadth of the line/service, package, warranty, after-sale service, brand name, company image, value and many other factors like the products life cycle stage. See Chapters 7 and 8.

2.    Place

The section should describe the Place associated with your product. Place is concerned with making products available when and where customers want them.  A part of place is physical distribution, which involves all the business activities concerned with storing and logistical transporting of the finished products distribution channel and channel management. The goal is to make sure that the products arrive in usable conditions at designated places where they are needed. See Chapters 10 and 11.

3.    Promotion

This section should describe the Promotion associated with your product. Promotion includes advertising, public relations, sales promotion and personal selling tactics that create attention, interest, desire and action. Promotion’s role in the marketing mix is to bring about mutually satisfying exchanges with target markets by informing, educating, persuading and reminding them of the benefits of an organization or product. See Chapters 12, 13 and 14

4.    Price

This section should describe the Pricing strategies associated with your product. Price is what a buyer must give up to obtain a product. It is often the most flexible of the four mix elements- the quickest element to change. It is an important competitive weapon and is very important to the organization because price multiplied by the number of units sold equals total revenue for the firm. See Chapters 6,7 and 9.

Marketing is a Crucial Component of a Business

Introduction
Marketing is a crucial component of a business. To gain customers, one has to advertise their products or services in the best way possible. This requires research of the target market geared toward their preferences, tastes, location, and access (Armstrong & Kotler, 2019). Consequently, businesses must invest at least 10% of their budget in marketing. The marketing department should have qualified staff, including researchers, designers, packaging experts, and sales professionals. The most successful companies such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Amazon, Adidas, Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, Tesla, and Google have mastered the art of marketing. This report aims to explore Samsung’s, the leading smartphone company in the world, marketing strategies and product promotion. Samsung's success is due to a comprehensive product line, great distribution systems, promotion, advertising, and pricing.
Samsung is a South Korean electronics company headquartered in Suwon. It had a record high revenue of approximately $232 billion in 2021. According to Statistica.com (2022), the company has about 287,000 employees with $362 billion in total assets globally. Additionally, it has a current NYSE stock price of $57.7. Samsung Electronics has branches and factories in 74 countries. Samsung is the second largest electronics company after Apple Inc., even though it is the largest smartphone manufacturer (Yonhap News Agency, 2020). Consequently, Samsung electronics is the largest company in South Korea and greatly impacts the country's Gross Domestic Product.
Product
Samsung is well known for its Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones; however, the company has numerous products. Other products include displays, cameras, batteries, image sensors, and semiconductors. Notably, much of Samsung’s revenue comes from semiconductor manufacturing for other companies (Statistica.com, 2022). The smartphone segment is the second source of revenue for the conglomerate. Semiconductor manufacturing operations, displays, cameras, image sensors, and batteries are confidential as they are Business to Business (B2B) agreements with confidentiality clauses. However, Rosenblum (2019) identifies that some companies include Apple Inc., Nokia, Sony, and aeronautic and shipbuilding companies.
The Samsung smartphone segment is the cornerstone of the electronics company as its products are available and accessible to everyone. Samsung is well known for its phone products, that rival iPhones, Huawei, Google Pixel, and Xiaomi. The products include the Samsung Galaxy phones and wearables. The Samsung Galaxy phones position themselves as futuristic, with wide display, the best specification cameras, and capable android phones. The Samsung Galaxy phones are categorized into three specifications: The low-end, low-cost A and M series phones, the middle-high spec and cost S series phones, The professional high spec and cost Note series, and the new maximum spec Pro and Ultra series. Moreover, there is a new foldable category for the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Z Fold phones with maximum specification at a much higher cost.
The Samsung Galaxy name is aimed at presenting a futuristic brand. Galaxy means space and...
