A pay structure for a company refers to the method the company uses to administer its pay philosophy. In designing a pay structure, the human resource (HR) management must first create job descriptions for all the available positions in the company. They should then conduct a job analysis and perform job evaluation. They should perform a role evaluation for salary against both the internal data and the external data (Noe, et al. 2011). In addition, the employer should participate in salary surveys in the labor market they are operating which is important in determining the pay levels for the specific jobs. In order to make sure that the pay structure is in line with actual pay, the company need to have a formal way of evaluating the value of each work in the organization. This helps to ensure that there is a fair pay for each job position
