Customers are an important part of the business as it aims to sell its products and services to these customers. Without customers, there will be no one to make any purchase from the business, which will lead to business losses. As such, any business that intends to be and remain successful should ensure that it maintains its customers by providing them with whatever they need in the best quality possible (Bartram, 2022). Providing the best quality goods and services to the customer can only be achieved through collecting the appropriate customer information (Rainer & Prince, 2020). For this assignment, I will describe how a certain restaurant that I was working with would use the information collected from the customer to make arrangements for product supply and personnel and also plan effectively for job time availability.
Restaurant businesses are some of the leading businesses across the world because the business deals with a basic need: food. Everyone needs to eat for them to remain productive (Keener, 2020). Although some people may prefer to cook at home, at one point or another, they will go to the restaurant to get food or a snack or order food to be delivered to their premises. As such, it is paramount for the business to collect customer information to maintain such customers and even encourage them to purchase food from the restaurant. One data that can be collected from these customers is personal data such as the customer's phone contacts, email addresses, and names, among others (FitzGerald, 2019)). The benefit of collecting this kind of information is that the data can be used to alert the customer when the business is introducing a new product or extending some offers, such as discounts. The business can use this data for marketing its products to the customers since the customer might be occupied missing out on other forms of advertisement. Still, once the information is sent directly to the customer, there is a high chance that the message will catch the customer's attention which helps maintain the customers.
Another important customer data that can be collected is attitudinal (Keener, 2020). This enables the business to better understand how customers think regarding the business. This information is vital as it helps identify strengths and weaknesses in business operations.
