Starbucks is unlike any ordinary coffee shop because it rises above other coffee companies because of their constant efforts in Corporate Social Responsibility. Throughout the years, Starbucks have been working hard to meet their goals, including the ethical source of coffee, waste reduction, and investing in the improvement of community and their employees.
As of today, Starbucks and their partners have donated 25 million trees to coffee farmers since 2015. Based on the given report, Starbucks already increased the ethical farming sources they have from 75% to 99% since 2008. As of today, they are still striving to work in achieving their goal of having 100% ethically-sourced coffee. At the same time, they have other goals for the company. Their projection is up to 2020 and by this time they wish to eliminate waste, recycle everything in their stores, and give back.
The $50 million commitment provided by the Starbucks Global Farmer Fund is to finance coffee farmers. Farmers can loan and be able to support their needs in terms of agronomy, improvement of infrastructure, and restoration. This directly impacts the quality of their coffee, the sustainability, and specialty coffee industry’s economic benefit.
