The option selected is the creation of a new innovative company in the travel industry. Across the globe, the businesses in this industry, especially the hotels, are continuously implementing new technologies to help improve the quality of service and the experience of the users. The main products and services offered are food and accommodation in the hotels. To improve the services, the hotels will deploy robots to handle most of the concierge-like roles. Examples include greeting guests, providing travel information guides and updates, luggage handling, cleaning, and even meal preparation. The robots will also be used in managing hotel security through guest screening and threat detection. Overall, the new hotel is a high-tech establishment where technology plays a critical role in building the ultimate guest experience.
Ideal Qualities of a Leader
There are several ideal qualities of a leader who inspires innovation and creativity in the workplace. According to (Naqshbandi et al., 2018), one of these qualities is empowering followers by trusting them and offering the autonomy to self-manage their set goals. The role of the leader in building innovation and creativity culture is to foster the same in the workers who execute the day-to-day tasks. Empowering the employees and facilitating their initiatives is a key leadership quality. Another quality is role modeling, where the leader, directly and indirectly, supports innovation (Villaluz & Hechanova, 2019). This can be interpreted as leading by example, where followers copy the actions and belief systems of the leader. Other qualities include embracing new opportunities, proactive thinking, and engaging workers in innovative and creative projects.
Steps in Contributing to Culture of Innovation and Creativity
A leader can follow certain steps to become a contributor to a culture of innovation and creativity. First, the leader may embrace innovation and foster the same with the employees. Second, the leader may build a communication and knowledge transfer framework to drive innovation (Dittrich & Biniok, 2018). The rationale is that a mutual exchange of information and experience within the workforce facilitates innovativeness. Another step is to establish innovation contests and awards where new and creative ideas are explored and rewarded. Creativity workshops may function in the same manner. Another step is to test and prioritize innovation opportunities so that only the constructive ones are pursued. Lastly, the leader can empower the workers to become innovators. This can be achieved through employee engagement and support for creative ideas.
