Leadership significantly determines the success of an organization. Effective leaders interact with their employees regularly to understand the problems they are facing in their daily activities. These individuals set good examples for workers to follow and act as role models. Some of the primary qualities of good leaders are interpersonal communication skills, transparency and authenticity, confidence, creativity, and honesty. Employees’ behaviors form a corporate culture that affects how workers relate to each other and their leaders. Notably, corporate culture refers to shared values and beliefs that influence the actions and behaviors of employees. The most significant factors that shape it includes values and vision, people and practices, environment, and the narrative of a firm. Effective leadership and a good corporate culture are the foundations of an organization’s success.
Conflicts in the workplace are inevitable despite the efforts of leaders to eradicate them. However, the most significant thing that a leader can do is to find for the most appropriate ways of handling conflicts and uniting employees. In reality, workers who are divided by their cultural or social differences cannot focus on an organization’s set goals. A proper conflict resolution strategy propels the entire firm in the right direction (Llopis, 2014). For this reason, the most appropriate leadership trait that can help in managing workplace conflict is empathy. An effective leader should be empathetic, which enables him or her to listen and respond to issues affecting workers. The individual handles employees with respect and dignity. On that note, workers feel free to present their problems to such a leader since they know that they will get appropriate solutions.
Communication significantly influences leadership effectiveness, employees’ performances, and an organization’s productivity and profitability. That is the reason why leaders should encourage workers to interact with each other in a firm to create a conducive working environment. The most crucial strategy that can improve communication within an enterprise is teambuilding activities. Besides, employees must become used to each other before they start interacting well. In other terms, they should understand one another’s cultural, religious, and social differences and respect them (Kerns, 2016). That way, they communicate with each other well without prejudice, which leads to conflicts. When workers become united, they focus on the set organizational goals and help one another when problems arise. They understand that the success of a firm depends on they collaborate with their workmates and not through internal competitions that might promote a culture of individualism.
The first and most effective way of motivating employees and improving their behaviors is setting measurable and clear objectives. In particular, goal-setting enables workers to have the proper meaning of their daily activities (Skilbeck, 2019).
