Leaders play a critical role in creating an ethical organization that ensures that a balance is achieved in all the stakeholders' rights, such as the employees, shareholders, and the community at large. One of the roles played by leaders to achieve this is leading by example. Leaders should be visible role models to all the stakeholders by upholding appropriate behaviours that they can emulate. Doing so will send a positive message to the entire organization on the essence of behaving ethically. Another role of leaders in creating an ethical organization is communicating ethical expectations to all the subordinates (Robbins & Judge, 2013). They should provide the organizational code of ethics to all employees, highlighting the ethical rules expected to be followed. Additionally, providing ethical training is also the leaders' role in creating an ethical organization. Leaders should set up training programs that reinforce the organization's standards of conduct.
The culture of an organization influences ethical behaviour by shaping the overall working environment. When an appropriate culture is adopted within an organization, it will create a positive working environment for employees, thus upholding their ethical behaviour. The management should always maintain employees' ethical rights to ensure that the working conditions are safe, considerate, and fair. Moreover, organizational culture influences ethical behaviour within the organization by creating helpful interactions with other stakeholders.
