The basic functions of management include planning, organizing, motivating, staffing and controlling (Kreitner, 2006). Planning relates to setting objectives and using strategies to achieve these objectives. Thus, the internal analysis of an organization is crucial as it highlights on organizational strength and weaknesses. Organizations choose the best course of action among competing alternatives in achieving objectives.
Organizing entails bringing together financial, physical and human resources in order to accomplish organizational objectives through an organizational structure (Kreitner, 2006).
