Introduction:
In a complex, multicultural business environment, it is important that business professionals adhere to ethical standards throughout their daily activities. The goal of this course is to introduce you to concepts and guidelines for ethical courses of actions in business. In order to assess your understanding of the material and your ability to apply the required concepts, you will be asked to take on the role of the ethics director for the company in the scenario. You will be asked to design an ethics curriculum for new employees to address the rights and responsibilities of employees and the ethical relationship between employer and employee. You will also be tasked with developing an ethical dilemma for analysis, offering ethical decisions for evaluation, and examining the role of personal values and goals in the workplace.
Scenario:
You are the ethics officer of a media auditing firm. The company prides itself on only engaging in ethical business practices. In order to ensure that all of its employees understand corporate ethical policy, new employees must attend an ethics training as part of the onboarding process. Additionally, every employee must attend an annual ethics training. These ethical training programs are developed by the auditing firm's ethics officer, the auditing firm's human resources (HR) director, and an outside consulting firm.
In a joint development session, the team works through the training development materials that will be presented at this year's two-day ethics training session. This year, the focus is on two primary topics: employees' rights and responsibilities in the workplace and employer's ethical responsibilities toward employees. In addition, hypothetical ethical scenarios are developed to evaluate the employees' understanding of company ethical standards, general ethical decision-making, and desired courses of action.
Requirements:
A. Take on the role of the ethics officer in the scenario and address the following:
1. Describe three employees' rights and responsibilities based on the scenario.
2. Evaluate two ethical responsibilities within the context of the employer/employee relationship described in the scenario.
3. Develop one personal ethical business dilemma that can measure employee understanding of the company's ethical standards.
4. Evaluate the dilemma from part A3 from a utilitarian and relativistic perspective.
5. Describe two common ethical decisions that the employees may face and develop potential actions to test their understanding of corporate ethics and responsibilities.
6. Explain why each ethical decision in part A5 presents an ethical dilemma and how an individual might justify unethical behavior (e.g., common excuses).
7. Create an outline showing how personal goals and values affect workplace decisions, including three supporting examples.

Introduction
The way employees and employers conduct themselves should be ethically defined. In order to exemplify integrity in a business, the workers, the products, the services and actions should be of high ethical standards such that ethical dilemmas, values and decision making in commerce are fully upheld.
Employees are entitled to fair treatment and respect therefore, employers should not mistreat their subordinates or abuse their power. Employees also have a responsibility to raise any unethical misconduct issues in their workplace, without fear of retaliation. Additionally, employees are entitled to look forward to their employers’ commitments on pay raise and promotions. Employees and employers should show loyalty to each other (Jaunich, 2012). An employer cannot conduct an interview that would replace an employee, without making the employee aware of it. It is ethically responsible for the employer to tell the employee that the work the employee does is not up to standard so the business needs another person that is best qualified for the job. An employee who would secretly look for another job without giving notice to the employer depicts unethical behaviour. When an employer wants to let go of an employee, the employee should be made aware and be given time to prepare for the exemption. Also, when an employee gets another job and informs the employer that the new job requires immediate reporting to this is not an ethical scenario. This would affect the business in terms of the position the employee was holding since the employer was not notified about the employee`s plans for a new job. These two scenarios show untrustworthiness in the employee/employer relationship (Moon &Stapleton, 2014).
Picture this ethical dilemma that happened to a company which was about to launch a new product. The company used a small sample size that was not statistically satisfactory. The product results showed that a small sample size was flawed and that the products could also be harmful. The company then needed to decide on whether to hold off the launch or present the product to the market. Note that, the defected sample were small and money would be lost if there was a delay on the product shipment. The flaw could be bigger if the company decides to present the product and satisfy their customers, but in the long run, the product would become harmful. Such a situation needs to be handled in an ethical manner that would not jeopardise the company and their customers (Tugend, 2013). The Utilitarian perspective of the dilemma is about the cost and benefits of releasing the products. Such a decision should be made in regards to a long term value instead of a short term win. The decision is all about looking at the greater good that will not harm the customers the stakeholders and the company. It should be the best decision for everybody (Jones, kein Datum). The Relative perspective of this ethical dilemma involves being morally ethic. It is morally wrong to give customers a product that would harm them and will not be durable.
