The Science of Drug Resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a scientific term that refers to the capability of microbes and microorganism to repel medication effects. The term widely applies to antibiotics and other drugs that one uses for curative purposes (Bisht, 2009). In most cases, natural resistance comes when bacteria mutate and get prone to certain medicinal drugs. After mutation, medicine no longer can cure and play the primary function of the drug, which is to fight microorganisms in one’s body (Patrícia, 2012). The main reason as to why antibacterial drugs become resistant to the body is the misuse and overuse of drugs until bacteria in the body create the resistance towards the certain drug. The paper discusses ways through which bacteria in the body become resistant to medicinal drugs.
The main remedy I could use is avoiding overuse of the antibacterial drugs. In cases where the symptoms of a certain disease do not persist in severe ways, I would give the body some time to enable it to create internal protective mechanisms. In cases where the symptoms persist, I could seek medical assistance, and after I recover from the disorder, I would ensure I take healthy diets to improve my immune.
The bacteria in view is the Methicillin –resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The bacteria causes some infections to the human body systems as it resists most drugs such made to fight it such as the penicillin type of antibiotics (Frieden, 2010). In cases where the ailment attacks, a person who is at far places to the hospitals such as homes and prisons affects the patient significantly as most antibiotics are often ineffective to the antibiotics that the patient takes. For the above reasons, the patient needs to seek proper medical treatment to recover from the disease as it has huge impacts on human immune systems.
