Artists have grown to become very creative with each artist trying to play with the available mediums differently differentiating themselves from the rest. This creativity has led to the production of almost similar art with the same message but different in the exhibition. To understand most of the available artwork in our museums and show houses one needs to have enough knowledge of the visual vocabulary. The modern artists have emulated the ancient artist by producing work with hidden meaning whereby one has to carefully analyze the visual vocabulary to understand the work. Artist coming in after 1980 can be observed as modern artists, for example, Bruce Nauman, who is popular for his comprehensive retrospective work. He is observed as a rigorous experimental and very influential artist of this generation. His work comprises of various subject spanning from the environment, sound pieces, neons, sculptural object to video installation. His creativity and innovativeness have attracted attention to many as he combines the two to probe the more complex issues of the psychological and emotional states without leaving the core aspect of art making. As a modern artist, Nauman is observed as an individual who is capable of producing work which is essentially contemporary and one can see his ability to understand complex issues integrating the same with interdisciplinary nature of art today.
