This week you will use your readings from the past week as a point of departure to create your own artistic production and a reflection paper.
Part 1: Art Creation
Select a photograph or film art piece to use as a point of inspiration. Create an art piece of photography or cinematography inspired by your selected art piece. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes and must be in MP4 format.
Note: If your art creation requires a separate file submission, please submit in the Art Creation Submission (Recordings) area following this assignment.
Part 2: Reflection
Write a reflection about the relationship between your art production and the inspiration piece. Include the following in the reflection paper:
Introduction
Inspiration Piece
Include the inspiration photograph or cinematography within the document. Use a link in the case of cinematography.
Record the title, artist/director, year, and place of origin.
Briefly explain the background of the inspiration piece.
Your Art Piece
Include your original photograph within the document. If you selected cinematography, submit as a separate file in the Art Creation Submission (Recordings) area following this assignment.
Provide a title.
Explain the background of your piece.
Connection
Explain the thematic connection between the two pieces.
How are they similar and different?
Are they the same medium? How does the medium impact what the viewer experiences?
For photography, how do the formal elements of design compare to one another?

Inspiration is a crucial phenomenon when researching art learning and artistic creation. Psychological investigations on the drawing indicate that active art appreciation inspires people and fosters creativity in art-making (Ishiguro & Okada, 2018). Many artists affirm that they received inspiration for their artistic works and creations. For example, Italian actress Julia Varley was immensely inspired by Odin’s performance, which she had the opportunity to attend when she visited Denmark. This inspiration pushed her to become a better artist in the future. This paper discussed a point of inspiration (photograph) and included a reflection on the relationship between the inspiration piece and my art production.
The inspiration for my artwork derives from Flora Borsi, a Budapest-based artist who fused her self-portraits art with a fun nonconformity that converts the photograph into a surrealist creation. One would be mistaken to believe that the swan was in the studio with Borsi. The artist employed digital techniques to ensure the image looked as natural as possible, and one might be tempted to assume that the creations are not fabricated in any sort of way. Borsi’s primary goal was to ensure the images looked real and though they were unedited snapshots, making it appear as if she was some sort of an animal whisperer (Bored Panda, 2021). In this way, the artist communicated that humans and wildlife peacefully co-exist based on their similarities and close interactions (Jacobus & Martin, 2019).
The sketch above, titled, a bird resting on a human hand, is inspired by the deteriorating relationship between human beings and nature. Human species have significantly altered the natural ecosystems upon which life depends through human-wildlife conflicts. The sketch is a form of escapism that ignores the apocalyptic ecocide unfolding in contemporary communities (Ohara et al., 2019).
