The accounting profession is founded on integrity and trust, as it is responsible for accurately and transparently reporting the financial affairs of individuals, businesses, and organizations. However, there have been instances where unethical behaviors within the accounting profession have come to light, causing serious damage to the reputation and trust of the industry. One such unethical behavior is manipulating financial records for personal gain or misleading stakeholders (Pinheiro & Costa, 2021). This can include the falsification of financial statements or the concealment of important information. Such actions betray stakeholders' trust and can have serious legal consequences for the individuals involved. This paper seeks to address the unethical behaviors found in the accounting profession and measures that can be enacted to prevent these damaging behaviors.
