In the research by Sengupta (2019), there is analysis of supply chain practices and performance. The supply chain role for both service and manufacturing companies influence the supply chain organization in specific organization, and ensuring that the supply chain system is efficient is necessary to reduce and eliminate unnecessary delays. The researcher uses the example of “NFL Player Jersey Sales” to highlight how there is focus on matching this with the supply even as the squad size change and some players get injured during a season. Targeting the top selling jerseys and meeting this demand helps to maximize revenue from jersey sales. Thus, access to data is prioritized to determine the demand characteristics and this is compared with the supply chain requirements. The supply chain managers then have to make a decision on whether to focus on supply chain postponement, or delayed differentiation in the manufacturing process to optimize the value of the supply chain (Sengupta, 2019). Looking into ways to add value to the supply chain allows companies to be more efficient and competitive as there is less wastage and optimization of the supply chain.
Thelen Yoo’s “Stand by your research” summarizes the threats, fear and trust issues associated with the 2016 Presidential Election. In the visual presentation, Yoo highlights how the factors linked to trust in the government influenced the election where concerns about the future and past mummeries affect political decisions and the political climate. President Trump and Hillary Clinton offered different economic proposals and people paid attention to the economic program of the candidates. Economic policies have different impacts on the economy and Trump was vocal on the need to replace NAFTA with a better deal to improve the country’s prospects when trading with Canada and Mexico. Fears about an insecure financial future may also have influenced the 2016 presidential elections, as it is likely more people believed that President Trump was better placed to improve the economy. Politic and economic policies are closely intertwined as presidents enact different policies based on their vision of the country. President Trump emphasized tax cuts to boost business investment, spur growth and reduce the taxpayers’ burden.
