Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) denotes a digital practice that enables organizations to exchange business documents or information for various reasons. The documents or information may flow from one computer to the other. EDI’s implications concerning audit evidence exist. EDIs enable actual financial information distribution to the intended entities, decreasing the urge for paperwork and manual information entry. Auditors can conveniently access and evaluate electronic evidence, thus achieving the utmost accuracy in evidence collection. However, these professionals should also acknowledge the threat of electronic data manipulation and unauthorized access.
