Australia as a Financial Centre
The Commonwealth of Australia is a vast and diverse country located in the southern hemisphere. As the world's sixth-largest country by total area, Australia is known for its stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and vibrant cities. With a population of over 25 million people, it is a multicultural nation that embraces a unique blend of Indigenous heritage and immigrant cultures. This essay examines the country’s financial sector.
Development of Australia Financial Centre
The development of Australia as a financial center can be traced to the establishment of the Australian Financial Centre Forum on September 26, 2008, by the Ministry of Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs. The forum was intended to facilitate the growth of the country’s financial sector to enable it to leverage business opportunities available in the region. With time, the country has developed a strong and sophisticated financial sector that plays a major role as a financial sector in the Asia-Pacific region. Some of the key factors that have played a part in establishing Australia as a financial sector include economic stability, robust infrastructure, a well-regulated environment, and the presence of a highly skilled workforce. Australia's finance sector contributes significantly to the country's economy and offers a wide range of financial services domestically and internationally. Presently, the country has roughly US$ 850 billion of the contestable pool of funds under investment.
Financial Service in Australia
Following the government's concerted efforts to grow Australia as a financial centre, there are several financial services that one can access in the country. First, the country has managed to enhance the capacity of local players and attract global competitors who offer asset-backed debt financing in the country. Consequently, the asset-based finance and leasing of the country facilitate nearly 40 percent of the capital expenditures in the country and include global players such as CIT Financial, GE Commercial Finance, and other key finance players in the world. Second, Australia has managed to establish one of the biggest superannuation industries in the world. Driven by the government-backed retirement scheme, the country’s fund management provides a myriad of opportun...
