5.1: Identify Optimal Existing Manufacturing Sites that Best Support Higher Supply Scales
5.1.1: The existing manufacturing sites for the COVID-19 vaccine should be optimized to support higher supply scales. According to the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), about 7.5 billion doses of the coronavirus vaccine are manufactured per month. However, vaccine production should reach 24 billion doses to ensure that there is enough for individuals worldwide (IFPMA, 2021).

6.1.1: The best storage or warehousing for COVID-19 vaccine doses are ultra-low temperature freezers. For instance, Moderna’s vaccines require temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius, while Pfizer jab should be stored at -70 degrees Celsius (UNEP.org, 2020).
