Dunphy et al. (2019) state that art therapies have been found to help treat depression via improved intra-personal well-being (i.e., improvement in the processing and communication of emotions and a better understanding of oneself), enhancement in the cognitive factors such as memory and retention, and developed sense of culture, such as enriched aesthetic pleasure.
