1. What was important about the piece you were asked to read/watch?
The video “The Rise of the Right: Populism in Germany” by BBC News is a very enlightening video that shows the rising change in political alignment and ideologies in Europe, primarily in Germany. Because of the increased connectivity and improved awareness of the people nowadays, as brought by social media and many awareness efforts that aimed to shift views on issues such as race and equality, many people tend to be complacent in such a way that they think that terrible events of the past will no longer happen (like the Russia-Ukraine war and the Nazi Regime). The video shows how right-wing politics are spreading in Germany, primarily highlighting the issue on conflicts between Germans and immigrants from Islam countries.
