My Online Persona Management Coursework Research Paper

Coursework Instructions:

We discussed interviewing and negotiation. We could argue that both of these have self-presentation as a central theme. Very often, we fail to consider this self-presentation to our online selves (i.e. online self-presentation). Most curate their online selves to fit a particular persona based on the social platform. Dolly Parton was one of the first to make fun of this practice.
Fun aside, employers ARE, more and more, looking to potential employees' social media sites to gain "insights".
Prompt:
For this week's challenge, there are several steps.
First, read THISPreview the document short description.
Then, take a moment to google yourself. Search not only for your name but also for your email address(es). Take a screenshot of your search results (include in the submission at the end of your write-up, on the second/third page). What do you think about your results?
Now, do you have a Facebook page or Twitter feed? Instagram? Think objectively about the impression your posts to these sites convey. Would you hire you? Why or why not?
Have you been known to comment on news items or blogs in ways that might reveal your personal opinions? What would these posts reveal about you?
Do you consider these posts to be private? Do you think it's ethical for employers to be looking at your postings?
Finally, how can you create a better online image for yourself?

Initially, I would like to focus on how I am portrayed in my various social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, among others. Subsequently, I would then shift my focus on some strategies that I can use to improve my online image. All in all, I believe that crafting a better online image for myself requires not merely a quick change, but a strong dedication in changing my online attitude.
Profile Analysis
I have always considered myself to have different “personalities” in various social media platforms. First, a search of my LinkedIn account would show my ‘professional side’ since I use it primarily to showcase my educational attainment, skills, experience, and awards, among others. Nonetheless, this is the most ‘objective’, and professional social media account that I have, which merely showcases the same information that I provided in my resume.
Second, a search of my Facebook account would show a more subjective view of my own personality. Upon checking my wall, one could see that most of my posts are either memes and informational posts. I have always considered myself to be respectful despite my humor, which is the reason why I check most of the memes that I share or post to not offend anyone directly. A...
