Response to the Invisible Hands film
The incidences in the film Invisible Hands give an in-depth insight into the description of child labor. The filmmaker achieved the goal of revealing the sufferings experienced by as young kids as five years old in performing hard tasks such as digging tunnels and working in the farms. For instance, many children in Ghana are exposed to cocoa harvesting at tender ages. Who would have known that the cocoa supplied to almost all parts of the world is harvested and manufactured by children enforced to labor not because they want to but because they might not have an option? What happened to the protection of children's rights? This film exposes the extreme levels of child labor in various countries across the globe like Cote d'Ivoire. Also, the government and non-governmental organizations in the affected countries make little or no effort to end the trend, resulting in the ultimate continuity of the adverse action against children.
All the scenes in the film would surprise viewers. How do such tender and young children manage to handle hard jobs? On the other hand, does continuity of the activities mean there are no people in those countries that can fight for the rights of the affected kids? Surprisingly, the children make almost all the commodities consumed in those countries and also for exports.
