1. What was important about the piece you were asked to read/watch?
The important thing about the piece is what occurred after the second World War. We often hear and learn of the Colonization period and the World War II. Somehow, less emphasis is given on the events that followed, like the finalization of decolonization efforts after World War II.
2. What did you learn about the topic that you didn’t know before?
I learned that the road that led to independence of the colonies from the British caused a lot of instability and was not absolutely non-violent. In thinking about lessons learned from colonization, wars, unification efforts, we mostly think of chaos at that moment, but we rarely remember the aftermath and if it is possible to get negative implications from events that can be considered as “wins.” The displacemen...
