After participating in one of the therapy sessions, I noticed that none of the spouses wanted to look at each other directly. The mood in the room was calm and you could hear a pin drop before Susan welcomes the couple to the therapy session. One of the most dominant descriptions of the first therapy session is that Judith seems angry with all of Richard’s actions. Conversely, Richard appears to retaliate the anger by talking back to Judith, leading to a verbal exchange. Besides, I noticed that Judith’s anger rose each time she tried to explain her plight to Susan.
Contrary to Judith’s behavior, Richard appears calm, but feels the need to interject whenever Judith raises an issue. The first therapy session demonstrates that communication is a substantial factor in the determination of whether a relationship will prevail. The current scenar...
