Domestic violence happens in a relationship with a pattern of abusive behavior. A person uses it to gain power over another person in the relationship (U.S. Department of Justice, 2023). However, domestic violence affects not only the couple; in some instances, it can also affect their children. In some cases, the children suffer from the consequences of the violence they have witnessed. Therefore, the question of the relationship between children witnessing domestic and their chance of becoming abusers or experiencing abuse as adults arises.
Since the children have been exposed to domestic violence, there is a potential that they will be the abusers or the ones who will abuse them when they grow up.
