Example - in the Forming Stage, members become acquainted with each other. They are cautious to ask questions about group goals, being uncomfortable working with new group members. The dialectics, which could take place, are Homogeneous˂˃Heterogeneous and Individual goals ˂˃ Group Goals.
Group members will notice cultural differences and similarities, as well as skill sets and opinions (Homogeneous<> Heterogeneous). Members may not express their true feelings because they are uncomfortable working with unfamiliar individuals. Furthermore, group members may not understand their role in the group and focus on personal goals instead of the group’s goals (Individual Goals<>Group Goals).

Every group undergoes five stages, from when the idea of forming the group is developed to when the group achieves the intended objective and thus is disbanded. The five stages of group development include forming, storming, norming, performing am finally adjourning. The paper will elaborate on these stages of group development.
Forming is the initial stage in group development. The stage involves the group members putting up the group structures (Engleberg & Wynn, n.d.). The group members feel ambiguous at this stage and will do anything to avoid conflict. One dialect likely to be observed is politeness. The members are new, and each wants to remain a member. They, therefore, address each other with a lot of formality. Another dialect is confusion. Members do not know their clear role leading to confusion.
Storming is the second stage. At this stage, team members begin to organize tasks and processes. Interpersonal conflicts begin to surface as team members try to secure a space of leadership or power in the group. Power struggles are one dialect that can be used in this case.
