1. What are the main issues in the case (underlying causes of problems)
The case of the Lee Coker team highlights several primary problems, such as poor communication, a lack of trust among team members, unclear roles and responsibilities, and inadequate team cohesion (Gabarro, & Kotter, 2005). These issues resulted from poor leadership and management practices, leading to conflicting goals, misunderstandings, and decreased motivation among the team. Moreover, accountability and feedback issues were present, creating a sense of irresponsibility and disregard for ownership among the team members.
2. What are Lee’s strengths and weaknesses as a leader?
Lee possesses several leadership strengths, such as his technical proficiency, problem-solving skills and commitment to achieving the team's objectives by investing significant time and effort. However, Lee's leadership weaknesses include ineffective communication, poor task delegation, and management skills, and difficulty providing feedback and acknowledging his team members' contributions.
