Assignment Instructions

Assignment 1 consists of four questions, worth 25 marks each. Your responses should be approximately 250–300 words for each question (1000–1250 words total).

Writing: Use clear, direct, structurally sound paragraphs and sentences in your responses. A well-structured paragraph contains an introductory (topic) sentence, supporting details in a few well-written sentences, and a closing sentence. Use a new paragraph whenever you introduce a new topic. Do not include diagrams, figures, bullets, or lists in your responses. Do not include appendices.

In any given organization, hiring new employees is a crucial cog because it extensively determines the overall performance and competence. As such, being the HRM, I must observe optimum care when getting new employees on board. One mandate I must fundamentally undertake is informing applicants about the organization’s culture (McShane et al., 2021). I must also consider the qualification of job interviewees. In this regard, I must establish they possess the requisite education and technical skills. Finally, I must assess the personality and values of new recruits. This is paramount as it enables organizations to assign individuals to jobs compatible with their personal attributes, which significantly enhances performance.
In light of the above, while selecting the employees suitable to work in the sales department, I will factor in several factors. First, they must be conscientious and agreeable since such attributes enable people to be goal-oriented, industrious, helpful, and tolerant, among others (McShane et al., 2021). Armed with such attributes, the employees will help the organization’s sales to improve exponentially. Second, the employee assistance and support department will require outgoing, talkative, and assertive individuals to help promote robust working relationships. Third, I will assign innovative, dependable, imaginative, and curious individuals to the product development department. Such employees will play a pivotal role in innovating competitive products. Finally, in the project management department, I will designate employees with such traits as discipline, assertiveness, emotional intelligence, and goal-oriented. Having such attributes will ensure that projects run seamlessly and within the stipulated time limit to enhance customer satisfaction and competitiveness.
