According to the Commonwealth Fund Analysis (2017), the United States ranks 11 in overall health care system performance. The United States (U.S.) ranks last in healthcare system performance list globally. Canada ranks ninth, while the United Kingdom (U.K.) led the list. This paper evaluates the differences between these healthcare systems and the U.S. delivery system and makes recommendations for improvement. The U.S. healthcare system performed poorly in care access measures compared to Canada, ranking tenth and eleventh, respectively. The U.S. ranked fifth in the care process, thus performing better than Canada, which ranked sixth. Regarding health equity, Canada ranked ninth, thus performing better than the U.S., which ranked last, as reflected in the exhibit below. Accordingly, the U.K. ranked first in the care process, performing better than the U.S., which ranked fifth.
