The educational level achieved by a nurse impacts his/her ability to participate in making healthcare policies. In this regard, a higher education level equips them with knowledge and skills important for policymaking. Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, and O'Grady (2015) argues that because nursing is multiple entry points into professional nursing practice, the different starting points among different nurses impact their ability to participate in policymaking. Nurses without advanced nursing education such as Master's and Doctorate, among others, do not have the necessary knowledge to craft and advocate for policies that can enhance care. Turale and Kunaviktikul (2019) point out that the lack of important policymaking skills makes the nurses receivers and implementers of healthcare decisions.
