A well-developed lesson plan employs both formative and summative assessments. A nurse educator should plan to use data from these assessments to guide instruction.
Concept maps describe the relationships between concepts and allow for an improved understand through critical thinking and analysis. To understand the link between formative and summative assessment strategies, develop a concept map describing the flow of assessment strategies throughout your own lesson plan. Be creative in your design. A rationale should be included for your choice of assessments.

Lesson Evaluation
Effective instructional delivery is an important procedure in nursing education. Nurse educators have to utilize both formative and summative techniques in content delivery to ensure that the learners grasp the concepts more clearly. Lesson plans are an integral tool in content delivery as they guide the teaching techniques that educators should utilize. A well-developed lesson plan has key features that allows the educator to assess the level of understanding of the learners. Among the key features include formative assessment, summative assessment, and the satisfaction survey that students fill to express their level of satisfaction with the lesson.
Formative Assessment
Formative assessment is an evaluation tool that instructors use to gather real data about their students during the lesson. The instructor then adjusts their instruction depending on the feedback to allow students to learn better. The formative assessments that will be used in this class will in form of low-stakes group work. This type of assessment will be suitable for the class as it will generate formative feedback on the progress of the students, allowing the instructor to know where the students may need some help (Houston & Thompson, 2017). During the class, the students will be organized in groups and expected to submit a statement that outlines the responsibilities of each group member and the timelines to assess their progress. The assessment will be in form of quizzes, journals and writing. The quizzes will provide instant feedback on the key learning concepts, while journals will help gauge the learners’ abilities to synthesize information and apply class concepts.
Summative assessment
This form of assessment evaluates the student learning evaluates the performance of the participants on the outcome of a program. It is the final evaluation at the end of a given topic, which combines all procedures to understand the overall amount of information that the learner has grasped from the learning process (Houston & Thompson, 2017). This class will utilize final projects to assess the learners’ overall grasp of the content. In completing the project, the students will be given a topic to research on individually and utilize class materials and course concepts, research on relevant theories and synthesize all this information in preparing the final paper. The scores from the project will help to know the capabilities of the learners.
Instructor Satisfaction Survey
After the class, the learners will be given survey materials to rate their instructor on various fronts, such as content delivery, punctuality, and other areas. This section will be used by the instructor to understand the effectiveness of his teaching approaches. It will help the instructor know his area of weaknesses and hence consider using different approaches to ensure that learners better understand the concepts being taught.
