The Nurse Training Act was passed in 1943 to advocate for nurse education within any military school and also in civilian schools. The passing of the act allowed funds to be availed for nursing students to access free tuition, uniforms, and other fees required by the schools. The act required all nursing schools to establish a 36-month basic nurse education program that would provide adequate training to nurse students within the given period (Judd & Sitzman, 2014). In 1964, President Johnson administration added Title VIII, Nurse Training Act of 1964 into the Public Health Service Act. This provided support programs for the poor and regional health programs that focused on addressing the needs of all groups. The act saw many minority groups such as African Americans, feminists, American Natives, and Latinos gaining opportunities in healthcare rights (Judd & Sitzman, 2014).
