According to Awasthi (2018), osteoporosis is a form of joint disorder resulting in the weakening of the bones, making them brittle and easily broken. Thus, it is a metabolic bone condition that is caused by osteoclastic bone resorption without adequate compensation through the osteoblastic bone formation. It is deemed a "silent disease" because patients rarely notice that they are suffering from this condition unless a bone breaks. The condition's pathophysiology includes the development of low bone mass and other extraskeletal factors that lead to fractures or bone-breaking (Awasthi, 2018).
