Challenges Associated with New graduates working with electronic medical records.
The challenges experienced by using EHRs include; inadequate knowledge, inadequate staffing, insufficient power supply, slow internet connections, risk of system damage, damage repair and maintenance expenses, cost of implementing, and cost of training personnel (Mollart et al., 2020). However, its benefits include; helps complete complex clinical calculations, identify potential drug interaction, a quick scan through important accessible information, ease of track of patient history, reduces patient-physician time, and ease of drug storage and dispensation (Welcher et al., 2018). Strategies to incorporate are EHRs use in the curricula include strong power and internet connections (Miller, 2014 ).
Hospital-Acquired Infections
Immunocompromised patients are likely to acquire hospital-acquired infections. WHO recommended protocols to deal with the issue include using masks while attending to patients, appropriate use of gloves, proper hand decontamination technique, safety injection practices, cleaning the hospital environment, and sterilization of equipment. However, a previous study shows that there is only 98 % or 99.9% protection against infection, which leaves a chance of 1% entry point (Storr, 2017). Some of the factors contributing to low immunity include age factors, health status, nutritional patterns, and use of antibiotics.
