Provide a summary of your learning style according the VARK questionnaire.
The VARK questionnaire revealed that I had a very high visual score of 9, while in the second position was Aural, with a score of 6. People with a higher visual score often find themselves drawing, working with diagrams and flowcharts, and having written information filed in charts (VARK, 2023a). To present information to other people, visual learners also utilize diagrams. I find these results accurate as I have always understood, processed, and remembered information better when presented visually. For instance, when asked about wound healing, and the different stages of wound healing, I find myself drawing exactly how my professor drew it so that I can comprehend it better. Additionally, I use infographics for medication administration or patient assessments.
Describe your preferred learning strategies.
Since my preferred learning style is visual, my learning strategies include the creation of diagrams and images; using visual aids such as graphs and charts, flashcards, and mind maps are great strategies for me (VARK, 2023a). Mind maps, in particular, have been beneficial to me when it comes to organizing information visually. I always begin with the main idea, then followed by the connecting concepts. Often, I try to visualize what I have learned so that I can get the ability to visualize later. Additionally, I review my concepts regularly to ensure a comprehensive understanding.

Given that my learning style is visual, the learning strategies include diagrams, visual aids, and mind maps. My learning strategies align with my learning style, so I believe I am effectively using the strategies that align with my style. As a result, I am fully optimizing my learning potential.

Learning styles can significantly impact how well an individual understands or performs educational activities. For example, individuals with a visual learning style learn best through visual aids such as diagrams, pictures, and videos (VARK, 2023a). They may struggle to comprehend and remember the information if given instructions solely through verbal communication. Similarly, individuals with an auditory learning style prefer to learn through listening and speaking (VARK, 2023b). They may struggle to learn through written materials but excel in group discussions or lectures. Kinesthetic learners prefer a hands-on approach, where they can physically interact with materials to learn. These learners may struggle with abstract or theoretical concepts but excel in activities that allow them to practice and apply the material. Lastly, individuals with a reading/writing learning style tend to prefer learning through reading and writing activities such as note-taking, reading textbooks, and writing summaries (VARK, 2023b). These learners may struggle with hands-on activities or auditory instruction.
