Include the following:  Describe the ethnic minority group selected. Describe the current health status of this group. How do race and ethnicity influence health for this group? What are the health disparities that exist for this group? What are the nutritional challenges for this group? Discuss the barriers to health for this group resulting from culture, socioeconomics, education, and sociopolitical factors. What health promotion activities are often practiced by this group? Describe at least one approach using the three levels of health promotion prevention (primary, secondary, and tertiary) that is likely to be the most effective in a care plan given the unique needs of the minority group you have selected. Provide an explanation of why it might be the most effective choice. What cultural beliefs or practices must be considered when creating a care plan? The diversity of individuals in the U.S. is growing due to the progress of transportation technology, which is now much more accessible to the general public. As according to U.S. Bureau of Census, Asian Americans are one of the fastest-growing minority groups in the country, making up 5.6% of the total population. The author of this paper will study the health status of this ethnic minority group in the country—Bureau of Census.
Analysis of Minority populations
Asian Americans represent a diverse spectrum of races because Asia is a relatively large continent with 48 nations. People with ancestry in more than 20 different Asian nations and regions, such as India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, and Cambodia, comprise the Asian American population in the United States. As said earlier, the author will research the health status of this particular community and, in addition to that, will also compare their health status to the national average.
Additionally, Asian Americans typically experience better health outcomes than the mainstream population. Looking at the public image of Asian Americans, we may rarely find Asian Americans obese; this might appear stereotypical, but it is a fact. Asian Americans have lower-than-normal rates of obesity, inactivity, and smoking compared to the general population (BMC Public Health, 2021). Furthermore, they engage in more frequent and healthful eating and physical activity. This might be anchored due to their cultural background, which will be covered in more detail later in this essay.
Although their population is not that prone to obesity, they still have health problems that are very common in their community. Asian Americans are more likely than the general population to have a chronic hepatitis B infection, which increases the risk of liver cancer. They are also more likely to get certain cancers, including stomach and liver cancer (Asian Liver Disease - Asian Liver Disease, n.d.). Additionally, there are higher instances of them killing themselves, which may be related to their mental health or the environment in which they are raised. This kind of variation in health conditions demonstrates how one's ethnicity influences their way of life and how this relates to one's culture and manner of life.
Compared to Americans, folks from Asia live more conventional lives. They are incredibly close to their culture, and their beliefs significantly impact how they handle some of their health issues. In some areas of the Asian province where doctors are in high demand since it is the closest they can get to medical care, this worsens their present health issue due to superstition. Their parents and other family members taught them these traditions, and they now unknowingly follow them in the U.S. Additionally, their living environment significantly impacts their health. For instance, Southeast Asians like the Cambodians and Hmong may have more excellent rates of chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension due to higher poverty rates and less access to healthcare.
