Coronary artery disease is a common heart illness in the United States of America (USA). In particular, it develops when plaque or low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol builds up inside the walls, leading to the narrowing of the blood vessels. Notably, arteries supply blood and oxygen to the heart. The plaque causes the hardening of blood vessels and reduces the flow of blood to the heart. Coronary artery disease is dangerous since it limits the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart, particularly during physical activities (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021). The pathophysiological risk factors of coronary artery disease include high intake of LDL cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, overweight, and sedentary lifestyle. Some risk factors can be alleviated to decrease the possibility of developing coronary artery disease. For example, individuals should eat healthy foods with low amounts of fat. Additionally, performing regular physical activities can eradicate the illness and promote a healthy lifestyle.
