1. What from the readings resonated with you most?
What resonated with me the most from the readings is the part of assessing the students. I realized that assessments come in different forms and they have different effects on students and that they do not always represent the strengths and learning of all students. As students, we all know the faults of standardized testing, as we have all experienced it, and I am sure that we have encountered some tests where we think that there are better ways to demonstrate our learning. The same thing is for other students, especially for younger students.
2. What were the clearest or muddiest points of the readings?
The muddiest point in the readings is the segment about dilemmas regarding federal policies. I understand that federal policies are, to a certain extent, a necessity in providing quality education in the nation, but I do not quite understand where the gaps lie, especially in considering policies that are not applicable to all states, let alone schools and methods of instruction. I do not fully understand how big the imact of comprehensive laws that were passed and therefore reviewed by learned entities, like the NCLB Act, still fail to addres...
