Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring is concerned with the relationship between nurses and their patients that promotes concepts of intentionality, openness, and a conscious mind to promote health (Butts & Rich, 2021). As a result, various instruments have been developed to measure the elements of human caring. Such instruments were developed to capture different subjective measures that patients experience and are diverse based on the complexity of measuring such personal aspects in healthcare. Some major tools include the Watson Caritas Patient Score and the Quality-Caring Model by J. R. Duffy, which offer practical ways of measuring different perceptions of care by patients and other stakeholders.
