Modern technology offers access to different educational material on the internet. Also, I would encourage the child to read books and gain new vocabulary by delving on the dictionary. The parent’s can also utilize other educational material such as visual aids, flash cards, and story books. This allows children to learn through repetition and ultimately gain new understanding of words and contexts. The parent’s can also play with their children using the English language. Interaction and opportunity to practice are the most important elements of language learning.

One example I can think of is how the black community developed their own expressions that only they could understand. In the history of America, the black community had to adapt to the oppression that they were experiencing. The black community developed slang and used the English language to create a version of their own. Their use of the English vocabulary were modified to fit their lifestyle and social environment. The black use English differently than the native speakers. Also, their fluency in English does not follow traditional grammatical rules, and their culture has become a ground for creating new expressions that is unique to the experience of their people. This can be observed in the social context and historical culture of the black people. 3.Based on your readings for the week, describe the difference between teacher-directed and student-directed instruction.
