Coursework Instructions:

Early Childhood Education Trauma Class
Topic: Should parents be required to attend educational classes, and should students be required to take a class on cultural sensitivity in third grade, sixth grade, and ninth grade?
Prompt:
For this assignment, you will write a 3-page position paper using APA format with no less than 3 educational citations and references.
Step #1: For your position paper I want you to take a position by answering the following below:
#1). At the beginning of enrollment in elementary school, middle school, and high school… should the children's parents be required to attend educational classes on the following topics of child abuse, attendance laws, and education laws? Explain why they should take classes on each topic or why not?
#2). Should students be required to take a class on cultural sensitivity in third grade, sixth grade, and ninth grade? Explain why they should in each grade or why not?
Step #2: The position paper must use APA format. Follow this format:
* Introduction: Your first paragraph should be an introduction paragraph. An introduction of your essay should present a thesis. Set the context. State why the main idea is important. State your thesis/claim. Your thesis is more than a general statement about your main idea. It needs to establish a clear position you will support with balanced proofs.
• Argument: Now state your argument in another paragraph. For example, the first section of your essay’s body paragraph presents your single argument for the thesis. An argumentative or persuasive piece of writing must begin with a debatable thesis or claim. In other words, the thesis must be something that people could reasonably have differing opinions on. If your thesis is something that is generally agreed upon or accepted as fact, then there is no reason to try to persuade people.
• Objection: Now, write an objection in another paragraph. For example, here you should respond to the argument given in the previous section and provide an objection to what the other side would argue… What is their argument?
• Response: Now in another paragraph write a response. For example, the third section of your essay’s body should be a response to the objection. For instance, fire back against the proponent’s arguments with research and data. Stay on target of your points. Be succinct and clear in your articulation.
• Conclusion: Lastly, write a paragraph for your conclusion. The purpose of the conclusion is to support your original thesis or state a new thesis.

Holistic Education.
In the current society, education is an essential aspect of a child's growth. Education is the process of passing knowledge from one person to the other. This is done in formal and informal ways in society. For education to be successful, it has to be holistic. (Ntekane, A. 2018). That is to mean, all the key players of the sector must take up their roles. This brings up the question of should parents attend educational classes? And should children participate in cultural class? Is it necessary, and why? These are fundamental questions that need to be answered to develop a comprehensive way to achieve a holistic education for the kids. Therefore, in this paper, I will explore the fundamental question, what is the importance of parents attending educational classes and children attending cultural classes in grade three, grade six, and grade nine?
Several studies have been done to show parents' need to get involved in their children's education. For children to be motivated in their studies, there is a need for their parents to show commitment and involvement in their education. (Sapungan, G. M. and Sapungan M. R. 2014.) They further argued that children whose parents have been significantly involved in their school work are seen to be more active in school, good performance in class, and more disciplined in school. This is a clear indication of the importance of the parent's involvement in their children's education. They state lack of skills is one of the most significant deterrence in parents' participation in the education of their children. This would mean that most parents don't know how best to get involved in their children's education. And this has made many parents shy off from being involved. Ntekane, A. (2018), on the other hand, also supports these findings. He affirms that learners whose parents or caregivers are involved in their education have better social skills, improved behaviors, discourages absenteeism, and good grades in their school tests. This then shows the importance of parental involvement in the education of their children at any given time. The only question would be, are parents well equipped with the best ways of getting involved in their children's education? As seen in the study by (Sapungan, G. M. and Sapungan M. R. 2014.), parents lack the skills of involvement in their children's education, and so many shy off because of this fact. This brings the importance or the need for parents to attend an educational class. In this class, the parents need to learn how to handle different aspects of their educational needs.
