Step #10: Now after reading Chapter 7, viewing the PowerPoint on Chapter 7, and viewing all the YouTube videos, now I want you to develop a conflict resolution philosophy as if you were a teacher for children describing your views on conflict, and how you will handle conflict in your classroom.
Remember conflict resolution describes the reactive process of addressing conflicts already in progress, focusing on finding solutions and restoring relationships between the disputing children. Conflict resolution in schools requires educators to implement techniques such as active listening, empathy, and negotiation to facilitate effective communication and mutual understanding among the children. The primary goal of conflict resolution is to achieve an outcome that satisfies all the children while fostering continued collaboration and respect. An important element of this is ensuring that educators respect and celebrate the diversity of the student body.
Therefore, in ONE PAGE ideally in at least two paragraphs develop a philosophy on conflict resolution describing your views on conflict, and how you will handle conflict in your program.
Step #11: Next, in at least TWO PAGES include a concrete step-by-step conflict resolution plan that will be followed consistently and uniformly every time a conflict occurs. Think about the different conflicts that children typically have in classrooms. For example, think about the conflicts from the social-emotional learning and restorative justice YouTube videos that you viewed earlier to help you develop this step-by-step plan.
