I agree that the remarriage of one parent can result in a conflict in the child’s life. However, if handled properly, it should result in normalcy in the child’s life. Once a parent has remarried, the child is exposed to a new life that they were not used to. The child’s mental health might be affected, making it challenging for the child to adapt to the new family. If the parent is not keen to note possible behavior changes in their child, it might be challenging to handle the child at a stage where they have already developed a negative behavior (Dinisman, et. al., 2017). Among the possible behavior change is that the child can begin to steal, use drugs or fall into a depression. Hence, the parent ought to pay a lot of attention to the child during the transition period. The child is getting used to a new family structure, and therefore, the process might take a while.
If the child is well cared for, it might not be challenging for them to transition into the new family. The parent ought to be keen to note any behavior changes in the child’s life. Once they have noticed such behavior changes, they ought to take action as soon as possible. For instance, the parent might talk to the child to seize the behavior or take them for counselling.
